Salida School Board Strategic Priorities 2022-2023 

At the regular meeting of the Salida School District Board of Education on September 12, 2022, the Board voted to approve the Strategic Priorities for the 2022-2023 as developed at the August retreat. The priorities help guide the work of the board for the upcoming year.

Salida School District Strategic Plan 2022-2027

During the fall of 2021 and early winter of 2022, Salida School District engaged in a strategic planning process. This process elevated community voice to inform the identification of strategic goals for the district for the next 3-5 years.

The process began with focus groups that included parents, business and community leaders, Salida School District staff and students. The information learned through those focus groups was then processed by a strategy team and a technical work group, generating the 
following four priorities:

Strategic Goal #1:

We will create a balanced definition of student success that develops the strengths and values the aspirations of each and every student.

  • Implement Individual Career and Academic Planning (ICAP)
  • Implement Best Practice in Career Pathways Planning
  • Define and Develop Characteristics and Dispositions of Salida Graduates and Align Pre-12

Strategic Goal #2:

We will create and sustain empowering, whole person learning environments for students and staff that are inclusive, equitable, safe, and supportive.

  • Create/Use a Framework to Promote the Mental, Physical, and Social-Emotional Health of Staff 
  • Collectively Establish Psychologically Safe, Inclusive and Supportive School Learning Communities 
  • Establish a Comprehensive, Aligned Pre-12 System for Monitoring and Responding to the Academic, Social, and Emotional Needs of All Students

Strategic Goal #3:

The Salida School District and community will work collectively to build a meaningful and trusting relationship that ensures success for all students.

  • Implement a Shared Decision-Making Model with Clear Roles and Responsibilities 
  • Develop Effective Ways to Engage the Generations and Provide Clear and Concise Communication to Community 
  • Onboard New Staff, Residents, and Business Community Members to Create a Strong Educational Network and Community 

Strategic Goal #4:

We will create a manageable network of high-functioning core partnerships that align with district priorities, leverage community support of the district, and extend the resources available to students, families, and staff.

  • Evaluate the Current State of Partnerships 
  • Initiate New Partnerships Aligned with Strategic Plan Priorities 
  • Create a Partnership Management Structure
