Through education, prevention and intervention, our Longfellow school counselor is available to support all students. Elementary school counseling sets the foundation for developing the knowledge and skills necessary for becoming confident and competent learners, and knowing where and when to access support throughout a student's school career.

Through the use of data and assessment, our counselor provides classroom and small group social emotional lessons, group and individual counseling, and referrals to community providers for longer term support. Our elementary counselor collaborates with teachers and families on early identification and intervention of students' social/emotional needs, which is essential in removing barriers to learning and developing skills for academic and life success.

The school counselor supports school wide systems for behavior, such Multi Tiered Systems of Support and our Positive Behavior Support Systems, most commonly referred to as ROAR.
