Facility Planning
Strategic Facility Plan
At the December 10, 2024 regular meeting of the board, directors adopted the proposed 2024 Strategic Facility Plan. The purpose of the plan is to develop a strategic plan of action that will accommodate the district’s growth in educational programs and facility capacity decisions for the foreseeable future. This plan should be used to support and inform the district’s financial plan and strategic program plan to:
• Identify facility challenges facing the Salida School District
• Set forth a strategic option(s) to accommodate projected enrollment growth
• Establish guidelines to support on-going facility maintenance to maximize the useful life of current facilities
• Delay and/or reduce the need for future capital bond requests to reduce the burden on the local taxpayer while still providing a quality education to local students

The report builds upon earlier reports completed in 2008 and 2019 by DLR Group and Western Demographics to assist in focusing on a strategic, long-term facilities plan to address the district’s enrollment and infrastructure needs. It incorporates the CDE facility assessment items and updated demographic data. In 2024, although projected growth is slower than anticipated, it continues to drive the strategies within the Strategic Facility Plan due to capacity limitations of existing facilities.
The Plan will be reviewed annually at the regular February meeting of the board.
