Salida High School Principal Jesse Hull today announced the promotion of Abigail Cooksey to the position of Assistant Principal.
Ms. Cooksey has been an integral part of the Salida High School team for the past seven years, serving as Dean of Students for three years and as a math and computer science teacher for four years.
"Ms. Cooksey has demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership in supporting our students and staff," said Mr. Hull. "Her unwavering commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment has been instrumental in achieving our school's vision and mission."
In her new role as Assistant Principal, Ms. Cooksey will take on additional responsibilities, including teacher evaluation, curriculum and instruction support, and the day-to-day operations of the school.
"I am so proud of where SHS is these days and I feel very lucky to be a part of its continued growth," said Ms. Cooksey. "I am speaking from the bottom of my heart when I say we have the greatest staff in the district and I love coming to work every day."
Cooksey's promotion from a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) as the dean for SHS to the newly approved assistant principal at SHS highlights the success of the TOSA program at Salida Schools in cultivating leadership from within the organization. Cory Scheffel also served as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) dean at SHS before being hired to serve as the principal of Longfellow Elementary School.
Please join the Salida Schools in congratulating Ms. Cooksey on this well-deserved promotion.
