The Salida School District Board of Education approved a $2,500 pay raise for teachers, effective for the upcoming school year, as part of the recommended package brought forth by the Collaborative Bargaining Team (CBT). The increase will raise the base teacher salary to $45,000, reflecting the district’s commitment to attracting and retaining highly qualified educators.

The board’s approval of the increase in teacher pay demonstrates the board’s recognition of the vital role teachers play in student success and the overall health of the community. This adjustment is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the district’s compensation package and ensuring Salida Schools can attract and retain quality educators in a challenging hiring environment.

With this increase the average salary of current teachers on staff for ’25-’26 will be $58,100 a year, and brings the district into alignment with districts of similar size and demographics from around the state. The base pay for teachers in the Salida School District has increased 38.5% in the last decade.

"We recognize the hard work and dedication of our teachers and are committed to supporting them," said District 3 Director Mandy Paschall. "Investing in our educators is an investment in our students and our future. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the district’s workforce and ensure that students have access to the best possible education.”

CBT is a representative group from all staff sectors, including teachers, bus drivers, cooks, para-professionals, and administrative support staff.  CBT uses an Interest Based Bargaining (IBB) process to address policies that guide working conditions and compensation for staff in the district. Each year the work to identify recommendations for review by the school board. Those recommendations are first ratified by all staff before being sent to the board for approval.
