Longfellow Families,
On Tuesday, the Longfellow Parent Association (LPA) held their first membership meeting of the year in the Longfellow cafeteria. During these meetings, dinner is served and childcare is provided. Time and time again, you will hear me thank LPA for all they do. They are truly a huge part of what makes our school warm and welcoming for all. I’d like to encourage everyone to become a member and to consider helping them as a board member or on the many events they put on to tie our school community together. If you are interested in getting involved, email them at lpa@salidaschools.org.
Yesterday, we were able to get the picnic tables and the scooter and skateboard rack LPA donated assembled and installed. If your child rides their scooter or skateboard to school, send them with a padlock. The rack is designed so they simply slide the scooter or skateboard in place and then lock it with the 2 rings on the front of the rack.
Yesterday and today, we had our first field trips of the year with our 4th graders going to St. Elmo to learn about our local mining history. There was rain, there was hail, but in the end there was a lot of fun. I’d like to thank our 4th grade team for putting this trip together and our transportation department for making sure our students travel safely to and from these fun events. If you are interested in becoming one of our school district’s bus drivers, or working in any capacity within our schools, you can learn more on the Employment page of the district's website.
Thank you all for your support,
Cory Scheffel
Longfellow Principal
