Longfellow Families,
With the year underway, and things getting busier and busier, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone (myself included) to take time and slow down. It seems like we all often do “more”. Another activity. Another trip. Another project. While experiences are important, the truly golden moments happen in the simple times. A walk together, playing a game, or a trip to the store can be just as golden as bustling the family through DIA to catch a plane.
In our building, we have several staff members who have kids at the high school. Ask any one of them, and they’ll tell you that it feels like just yesterday, they were packing their kids up for their first day of kindergarten. Now, their kids have their own busy lives, they don’t need rides anymore, and the true treasures come when everyone’s schedules align and the whole family can just be together.
I know it’s hard. There is no dollar amount that can buy you time. Some of you are balancing 3 jobs just to get by in this town. All that said, the one thing that brings us together is our kids. As we rush from one thing to another, let's all take that extra minute and slow down and connect. Put the screens away and make dinner together. Look them in the eye and tell them that you love them. Time together is truly what makes life beautiful.
Thank you for being a great community,
Cory Scheffel
