Families of Longfellow Elementary-
With the sudden shift in the weather, I think we all had that moment where we took a breath and faced the realization that winter is upon us. The best way you can help out is to make sure your child is bundled up for the weather. Day in and day out, we will do our best to have the kids outside. That said, there are times when the temps or the rain forces us to have inside recess. As you get ready for the day, plan on them playing outside. Remember they’re kids, so “playing” often means rolling, diving, and swimming in the snow. Snow pants, a winter coat, gloves, and a hat are all key to making the memories of snowy recesses golden for our kids.
For the most part, our Parent/Teacher conferences wrapped up yesterday. I truly appreciate everyone coming together to support our students. The connection between families and school is a huge part of student success. I appreciate parents taking time to come meet with their child’s teacher and I also want to say thank you to our staff for the long hours they put in to make this happen. If you missed your conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher so we can schedule a time to discuss their learning.
With Parent/Teacher conferences, our lost and found went down slightly as parents looked through things on their way to their kids’ classrooms. If you’ve lost an item, please come check the hooks and rummage through the bin. Another way to help our lost and found is by labeling coats, gloves, and hats with your child’s name. Before it goes in the bin, we do a quick scan to try and keep it from ever landing in the Lost and Found.
Thanks and stay warm,
Cory Scheffel
