Families of Longfellow Elementary-
Lots of fun is happening at Longfellow as we get nearer and nearer to the winter break. Today, first grade is having their fairy tale day and 3rd grade is celebrating the seventieth day of school with all things from the 70’s.
Next week, 3rd and 4th grade students will have the opportunity to go to our local bowling alley, Split Happens, to learn all about the awesome game of bowling. There are cross-curricular opportunities as students learn how to score (and plenty of fun and giggles as they let the balls fly). Last year, our local bowling league and Split Happens owner Rick Holland donated a class bowling set that is used as part of our P.E. programming. I’d like to thank Rick Holland, Split Happens, our local bowling leagues, and coach Gardunio for making this fun learning opportunity happen.
In the days ahead, you’ll see information coming home on our Winter Read-A-Thon put together by the Longfellow Parents Association. This event encourages students to read, read, read! There will be a craft party for the top reading class and prizes for the top readers in each class. The Winter Read-A-Thon officially begins today and continues until the week after break. Check your child's backpack for more information on this fun event.
Finally, I wanted to remind everyone that our outside supervision starts at 7:50 in the morning. Please help us by making sure your student doesn’t arrive any earlier. Students enter the building at 8:10. We want to make sure all our students are safe while they’re under our care here at Longfellow.
Thank you,
Cory Scheffel
