Families of Longfellow Elementary-
As we’ve launched into 2025, we have been focused on one of the greatest gifts of all, the gift of reading. Over the break and into this first week back, students have been participating in the Longfellow Parent Association’s Read-A-Thon. The goal of this program is to encourage kids to read over break (and to give parents a little break at the same time.) The class that reads the most gets to make snow globes with one of LPA’s awesome volunteers, Molly Orr. I’d like to give a huge shout-out to the Longfellow Parent Association for organizing this incredible event.
Continuing into next week, we’ll still be focused on the love of reading. Monday through Wednesday, we’ll have the book fair set up for students who want to purchase books. If you’d like to go through the book fair with your child, we’ll have it open after school Monday from 4-5, before school Tuesday from 7:30-8:00 and after school from 4:00 and 5:00, and before school Wednesday from 7:30-8 and after school from 4-7. On Wednesday, from 5:00 to 6:30, we’ll have the annual literacy night. The book fair will also be open at this time and we’ll have lots of literacy activities for families to participate in. Dinner will be served during literacy night and students will have the opportunity to get a free book. This year’s theme is “Slumber Party.” Please come and celebrate reading with your child.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
