Families of Longfellow Elementary-
Brrrr! It’s COLD! Help us keep your kids safe by making sure they are bundled up with a winter coat, hat, and gloves. The temperature swings have been pretty drastic, and on several days we’ve eventually been able to go out as things warmed up. You can also help us by making sure your child does not arrive at school before 7:50. That is when our supervision starts (whether it’s inside or outside). I’m sorry to keep beating this drum, but I want to make sure our kids are all safe. Also, if there is a lost coat swing by and check out our lost and found.
As we all get into the hustle and bustle of things, it’s sometimes tough to remember to slow down. The time between winter break and spring break is the longest span of uninterrupted learning in our school year. Add cold days and cabin fever into the mix and it can be tough on us all. During this time, it’s important for us to breathe and take time to connect. As you head into your weekend, plan a time to be together as a family. Even if it’s just sitting down and having dinner together, these precious minutes are impactful on our kids. Family is the most important influence in the lives of our students.
Throughout my time in Salida, many folks have had to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. As our housing prices have gone up, it’s becoming even tougher. I know it can be hard to find the time when the focus is putting food on the table and making rent. I also know that the most important thing for everyone is their kids. When you come home from a long day, take a breath before you go in the door. Hug them a little longer and hold them close. Our kids are successful because of you. Thank you.
