3rd graders enjoy a field trip to Frantz Lake

Families of Longfellow Elementary-

The last day of school for students is next Wednesday, May 21st.  Yes, another year has flown by. Our kindergartners have learned to read, write, and be a part of a classroom. Our 4th graders are off to the world of middle school. Every student has taken a step to take the reins of the world. Within them lies the hope for the future.

As we work to create their memories of the fun times of elementary school, we jam lots of fun and activities into these last few weeks. They’re intended to celebrate childhood. When thinking back on our own experiences from elementary school, we don’t remember the math tests. We remember the people. We remember the field trips. We remember the friends. We remember the fun.

In addition to field day, all grades have something exciting and out of the ordinary planned for our last few days of our school year (field trips, picnics, and fun.) If you have questions on specific grade-level happenings, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.

As we prepare for summer, we are trying hard to clean out our lost and found. On Monday, we’ll be setting it out for families to look over. After 4:15 on Wednesday, items will be available for anyone to take. Items remaining after Wednesday will be donated.

As a way for you to prepare for summer, I ask that every family learn how to access their child’s Infinite Campus account. In the past, we’ve posted class lists on the doors. In an effort to honor student and family confidentiality, we’ll be shifting to families finding out their upcoming teachers through this platform. If you haven’t already accessed your student’s Infinite Campus account online, you can reach out to the office for assistance. They will make sure you have a username and password and can get signed into the Infinite Campus app. As always, class placements will happen in early August. While it’s a ways off, we’re excited and starting to get things set for the 25/26 school year.

Finally, the culmination of the Longfellow experience is our 4th Grade Continuation. This will take place on Wednesday the 21st at 1:30. 4th grade parents are welcome to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of our 4th graders and honor their transition into becoming middle schoolers. If 4th grade parents would like to check their child out immediately after the ceremony, they may do so, but we ask that they complete a form with their classroom teacher to ensure all students are accounted for and safe.

Thank you all for a wonderful year. Thank you for being the most important person in a child’s life.

Cory Scheffel

Longfellow Elementary Principal
