Picture Day at School

Longfellow Families,

Say cheese! This week we held our annual school pictures. Students were dressed to the nines as they excitedly awaited having their picture taken. Yesterday, one of our little friends asked to step behind the camera and see his picture. When he did so, he said, “I look GOOOOD!”  School pictures are a big part of the elementary experience for students and families. School pictures freeze that moment in time that seems so fleeting. If you missed the picture form or would like to add to your order, you can call Crystal at (719) 207-1375.

Also this week, our 3rd graders had their first field trip of the year. Sponsored by GARNA (Greater Arkansas River Nature Association), the students and their teachers traveled to Maysville and Monarch Pass to celebrate the great outdoors. I’d like to give a big shout out to the students on one of our bus loads for their flexibility. The bus had some mechanical issues that caused things to be delayed for an hour. It’s never what we want, but in a short time they were back on the road and able to enjoy the rest of the trip. A big thanks goes out to the students, the teachers, GARNA, and the transportation department for making this trip happen.

With so much going on in the world and the news, it can be hard to shelter our little ones from everything. Take a moment and talk to your child about kindness and respect. Let them know that if someone is doing something they don’t like to say firmly, “Stop, I don’t like that.” If that doesn’t work, encourage them to ask an adult for help. Our goal is always to build these skills in them to help them later in life. We can’t shelter them from everything, but we can talk and work to build skills that will help them in the years to come.

Thank you for being a great community,

Cory Scheffel
Longfellow Principal

We have families that rely on these spots.
