Families of Longfellow Elementary-
Last week we had our second grade music performance “Squirm”. Blacklights, singing, dancing, and a few jokes rounded out the performance. Joy was had by all the performers as they had the chance to shine on stage. I’d like to send my heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Giangiulio, the second grade performers, the second grade teachers, and all those who came out to support our evening performance.
It’s hard to believe that we are only a month away from spring break. The year is flying by. Today, we are celebrating Valentine’s Day with the Salida Circus. Some of our own students are performing as part of the assembly. Clowns, unicycles, jugglers, stilts, and aerial performers all bring delight to our students on this day where we celebrate our friendships here at Longfellow. The Salida Circus has performers of all ages. A huge thank you goes out to the circus performers, the students and the staff as they’ve worked to make this Valentines a memorable one.
I wanted to send a little reminder to all families about our breakfast hours. Breakfast begins at 7:50 and serving stops at 8:05. We want all our students to have the opportunity to start the day with a full belly. That said, we have students who are often tardy and rely on that breakfast. If your child likes to start the day with a school breakfast, please help out by making sure they are on time so that they can be fed and off to class, ready to learn at 8:10.
Finally, don’t forget to check the lost and found. With the cold mornings and warm days, it is easy for kids to “forget” their coats throughout their day. If your child has lost something, there is a good chance it’s in the lost and found. Come to the office at the end of the day and we’ll let you in so you can find that lost scarf, or lunch box, or lone shoe (yes…that does happen).

-Spring conferences will be next Wednesday, February 18th. Your student’s teacher will reach out if they think a conference would be beneficial. If you would like to set up a conference, please let your teacher know. Otherwise, you are not required to attend conference night.
-If using the circle drive to drop off your child, pull all the way up, and stay in your vehicle. Have your kid(s) exit through the passenger door, so they don’t have to cross in front of other drivers. Once they’re safely on the sidewalk, slowly exit to the stop sign. If you’d like to walk your child to the building, park in one of the parking lots or along the street.
Familias de la Escuela Primaria Longfellow:
La semana pasada tuvimos nuestra presentación musical de segundo grado, "Squirm". Luces negras, canto, baile y algunas bromas completaron la presentación. Todos los artistas disfrutaron mucho al tener la oportunidad de brillar en el escenario. Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a la Sra. Giangiulio, a los artistas de segundo grado, a los maestros de segundo grado y a todos los que vinieron a apoyar nuestra presentación.
Es difícil creer que estamos a solo un mes de las vacaciones de primavera. El año vuela. Hoy celebramos el Día de San Valentín con el Circo Salida. Algunos de nuestros alumnos se presentarán como parte de la asamblea. Payasos, monociclos, malabaristas, zancos y artistas aéreos deleitan a nuestros estudiantes en este día en el que celebramos nuestras amistades aquí en Longfellow. El Circo Salida cuenta con artistas de todas las edades. Un enorme agradecimiento a los artistas de circo, a los alumnos y al personal por su trabajo para hacer de este San Valentín un día memorable. Quería enviar un pequeño recordatorio a todas las familias sobre nuestro horario de desayuno. El desayuno comienza a las 7:50 y termina a las 8:05. Queremos que todos nuestros estudiantes tengan la oportunidad de comenzar el día con la barriga llena. Dicho esto, tenemos estudiantes que suelen llegar tarde y dependen de ese desayuno. Si a su hijo le gusta comenzar el día con el desayuno escolar, por favor, ayúdenos a asegurarnos de que llegue a tiempo para que pueda comer y salir a clase, listo para aprender a las 8:10.
Por último, no olviden revisar la sección de objetos perdidos. Con las mañanas frías y los días cálidos, es fácil que los niños olviden sus abrigos durante el día. Si su hijo ha perdido algo, es muy probable que esté en la sección de objetos perdidos. Venga a la oficina al final del día y le abriremos la puerta para que pueda encontrar esa bufanda, lonchera o zapato perdido (sí... eso pasa).

- Las conferencias de primavera serán el próximo miércoles 18 de febrero. El maestro de su hijo se pondrá en contacto con usted si considera que una conferencia sería beneficiosa. Si desea programar una conferencia, por favor, infórmeselo. De lo contrario, no es necesario asistir a la noche de conferencias.
- Si usa la rotonda para dejar a su hijo, deténgase completamente y permanezca en su vehículo. Haga que su hijo(a) salga por la puerta del pasajero para que no tenga que cruzar frente a otros conductores. Una vez que esté seguro en la acera, salga lentamente hasta la señal de alto. Si desea acompañar a su hijo(a) al edificio, estaciónese en uno de los estacionamientos o en la calle.
