Families of Longfellow Elementary-
The excitement is building as we head towards the end of the year. This week, our 3rd and 4th graders held their celebrations for the great efforts they put forward on the state CMAS test. Elemental 5 came and set up a parkour course in the gym for our 3rd graders. They were able to hop, tumble, flip, and slide in celebration of a job well done. Our 4th graders celebrated with a walking field trip to the Fun Street Arcade. Both businesses are locally owned and truly care about the kids in our community. I’m thankful for our 3rd and 4th graders. They should be proud of a job well done.
Yesterday, our 4th graders continued their fun on their “rendezvous” field trip to Buena Vista. On this field trip, our students connect with 4th graders from Buena Vista and Fairplay. It harkens back to the historical rendezvous of the past in which mountain men, traders, and trappers would converge, trade their goods, and let off a little steam. Thanks go out to all our 4th grade teachers and students for making this event a great success.
Last night we held our 3rd annual “Hop Into Kindergarten” event. This is a chance for next year’s kindergarteners and their families to become familiar with (and excited about) coming to school at Longfellow Elementary. They do a scavenger hunt, they meet some of the staff, and they get to explore some of their new school. Thanks go out to Mrs. Lang and the Kindergarten team for making this event happen. If you have friends with an upcoming kindergartener, please tell them to connect with the office. They can get them all the information they need to register their child.
This Sunday, May 3rd, the Longfellow Parent Association is hosting the Mountain Lion Fun Run. It is free for Longfellow students and a small entrance fee for other participants. This event is a fundraiser for LPA (and it’s also a great opportunity to bring our Longfellow community together). If you’re not into running, that’s ok. You can still support by making a donation to our parent group. Familias de la Escuela Primaria Longfellow:
La emoción va en aumento a medida que nos acercamos al final del año escolar. Esta semana, nuestros alumnos de 3.º y 4.º grado celebraron los grandes esfuerzos que realizaron durante los exámenes estatales CMAS. La empresa Elemental 5 vino e instaló un circuito de parkour en el gimnasio para nuestros alumnos de 3.º grado. Pudieron saltar, hacer acrobacias, dar volteretas y deslizarse para celebrar un trabajo bien hecho. Nuestros alumnos de 4.º grado celebraron con una excursión a pie al salón recreativo Fun Street Arcade. Ambos negocios son de propiedad local y se preocupan verdaderamente por los niños de nuestra comunidad. Estoy agradecido por nuestros alumnos de 3.º y 4.º grado; deberían sentirse orgullosos del trabajo bien hecho.
Ayer, nuestros alumnos de 4.º grado continuaron la diversión en su excursión de "encuentro" (*rendezvous*) a Buena Vista. En esta excursión, nuestros estudiantes interactúan con alumnos de 4.º grado de Buena Vista y Fairplay. La actividad evoca los históricos encuentros (*rendezvous*) del pasado, en los que los hombres de las montañas, los comerciantes y los tramperos convergían para intercambiar sus mercancías y desahogarse un poco. Nuestro agradecimiento a todos los maestros y alumnos de 4.º grado por hacer de este evento un gran éxito.
Anoche celebramos nuestro tercer evento anual "Hop Into Kindergarten" (Un salto hacia el jardín de infancia). Esta es una oportunidad para que los futuros alumnos de jardín de infancia del próximo año, junto con sus familias, se familiaricen con la escuela primaria Longfellow (y se entusiasmen con la idea de asistir a ella). Participan en una búsqueda del tesoro, conocen a algunos miembros del personal y exploran parte de su nueva escuela. Agradecemos a la Sra. Lang y al equipo de jardín de infancia por hacer posible este evento. Si tienen amigos que tengan un niño próximo a ingresar al jardín de infancia, por favor díganles que se pongan en contacto con la oficina. Allí les proporcionarán toda la información necesaria para inscribir a su hijo.
Este domingo 3 de mayo, la Asociación de Padres de Longfellow (LPA) organizará la "Mountain Lion Fun Run" (Carrera Recreativa del León de Montaña). La participación es gratuita para los alumnos de Longfellow y tiene un costo de inscripción simbólico para los demás participantes. Este evento es una recaudación de fondos para la LPA (y también una gran oportunidad para unir a nuestra comunidad de Longfellow). Si no les gusta correr, no hay problema; aún pueden brindar su apoyo haciendo una donación a nuestro grupo de padres.
