Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend. We're proud of our Spartans!

Congratulations:

• Our State Swim Team placed 12th out of 27 teams! Congratulations to CeCe Lengerich, Melissa Lang, Elyse Witherspoon, Brenna Chariton, Colbie Brown, Kasey Glaser, and Shae Merchant, who all placed in their events.

• Best of luck to our State Championship Wrestlers competing this weekend in Denver: Hudson Fisher, Jesse Wilkins, Sam Johnson, and Casen Pridemore.

Health Update:

We've observed an increase in respiratory illnesses at the high school. If you experience cold symptoms with body aches or chills, please stay home until you feel significantly better.

Current recommendations for returning to normal activities:

• Your symptoms are improving overall.

• You have been fever-free (without fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours.

Registration for 2025-26:
Counselors have begun meeting with students during Advisory to discuss course options and registration for the 2025-26 school year. These meetings will continue over the next few weeks.

Counselors are reviewing:

• Graduation Requirements

• SHS Career Pathways

• Course options and prerequisites

• Alignment of courses with students' post-secondary plans.

Students will receive a Course Request Sheet to complete, sign, and return to their Advisory teacher. Parents, please discuss your student's 4-year plan and career pathway with them. Course requests indicate needed and desired courses. Course availability is subject to student interest and instructor availability.

Important: All course request sheets must be signed by a parent/guardian and the Advisory teacher before submission. Pay close attention to the due date on the request sheet. Counselors will meet with students individually to approve requests and verify graduation requirements.

Local donors continue to provide updates. Please check the list regularly. Scholarships highlighted in yellow have not been updated for 2025. Local Scholarships

Ensure you are completing the 2025 application for any local scholarship you qualify for, as applications and deadlines may change annually.

ASVAB Testing:
Sign-ups for ASVAB testing are now available in the counseling office. The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a career exploration tool that helps students identify their strengths and explore potential career paths.

While the ASVAB is required for those considering a military career, it is also a valuable resource for all students. The test provides insights into skills related to various fields, including mechanics, electronics, math, and verbal skills.

Being a trusted adult for young people is crucial. Guiding them through adolescence is a significant responsibility. Young people may need guidance, whether they ask for help or not.
