Congratulations to our Mt. Bikers who finished up the season successfully last weekend at the State Championships. Henry Palka had the most impressive finish with the sling shot award and the top boys varsity rider. Emery Kelley was the top girls varsity rider.
Congratulations to the Volleyball team with a big win over the Manitou Mustangs in our gym Thursday night.
Congratulations to our Cross Country runners who competed in Regionals on Thursday. The girls placed 2nd and the boys 3rd. The state championships will be on Saturday, November 1 at the Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs.
Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Team in winning the Tri Peaks League Championship Thursday night. Onto the state playoffs!
Parent Volunteers
We are seeking parents to volunteer for several upcoming student activities. Your involvement is crucial in helping us provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our students after these events.
January 17: After Winterfest Dance - We need parents to help organize a safe and fun post-dance event for students.
April 17: After Prom - Historically, Junior Parents have planned a fantastic party with activities and a raffle for prizes. We're looking for parents to continue this tradition!
May 20: Senior Breakfast - We are looking for parents to help plan a special breakfast to honor our graduating seniors before commencement.

Advisory this week
11th and 12th grade will learn about workplace culture and professionalism
9th and 10th grade will discuss the importance of Relationships & Effective Communication.
All grade levels will also be doing mini presentations about the S.T.E.M. career pathway.
Round 2 of clubs begins on Thursday
Student Council Halloween Carnival: October 28th
Join us for a fun-filled Halloween Carnival hosted by the Student Council on Tuesday, October 28th, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM in the SHS Gym! This event is a fundraiser dedicated to supporting the Christmas community toy drive. Admission is $10 per child or $15 for two children. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including a bouncy house, pumpkin painting, "pin the spider on the web," a craft table, pumpkin mini golf, a candy walk, and face painting. Please note that all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

1st Tuesday Business Entrepreneurship Presentation November 4
Every 1st Tuesday of the month, CMC and SHS staff will present information on specific graduation pathways to interested advisory students in the auditorium. Students are informed of occupational opportunities, high school/ CMC courses and recommended industry credentials related to a graduation pathway. Students have the opportunity to ask specific questions about the pathway. All high school students are required to attend at least one 1st Tuesday. November 4 Mr. Kapushion and 2 other community members will present the business/ entrepreneurship pathway for interested students.
School Accountability Committee November 18
The purpose of the SAC is to inform, encourage and provide opportunities for parents and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school's instructional program and quality improvement processes. Our next meeting is in the SHS Library from 5:30-6:30 on November 18.
All parents and guardians are welcome to attend. I would be happy to speak with you further if you have questions or are interested in volunteering.
Drama Production Hadestown November 14 and 15

Junior Career Day December 16, 2025
There are 50 community volunteers that have signed on for career day for all juniors on Dec. 16th. Each advisory class will rotate through 3 stations, Resume, Mock interview, and professionalism/networking. Juniors need to come professionally dressed for an interview, bring a copy of their resume, & be prepared to share their story with a professional. Email fmaxwell@coloradomtn.edu with questions.
Halloween
We love Halloween at Salida High School. Students and staff are welcome to dress up. Costumes should be appropriate for a school setting. Staff should be able to recognize a student.
You are invited to join the SHS Big Read Inaugural Book Club meeting!
Join us for a community book club for parents, teachers, and community members about Never Enough by Jennifer Breheny Wallace, presented by Book Club Salida in partnership with Salida High School. We will meet on November 16, 2025, from 9:30-11:00 am at Sanctum Drawing, 501 W 5th St., Building #2, Salida.
