Quote of the Week: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you're right.” –Henry Ford

Thank you - Love the Bus!

Each week the activities department will highlight a group of people who help make our activities department run. This week we would like to thank our Transportation Department. Evalyn Parks does an amazing job of ensuring her staff gets your kids to and from events safely. We could not have an activities department without them. Make sure you let her and her staff know how much you appreciate them!

Shout outs:

Salida had 9 girls (Ocean Shin, Colbie Brown, Elyse Witherspoon, Caitee Hughes, Nora Jacob, Aurora Allen, Melissa Lang, Brenna Chariton, Lexie Davis ) compete against much larger schools and all of them advanced to the finals. Overall the Salida girls swim team swam amazing with most athletes swimming Personal Best times. The team placed 12th overall out of 27 teams. Thanks to all that supported the team this season!! Congratulations to our HS Wrestling staff and the athletes on our boys and girls teams on their outstanding season! They were highly competitive all season, despite having fewer wrestlers than most the teams they competed against. This past weekend they all wrestled very well at regionals and we ended up with 3 state qualifiers.

  • Sam Johnson 1st Place

  • Jake Johnson 3rd Place

  • Calhoun Hill 3rd Place

Congratulations to Caleb Vold who made All State Orchestra and Concert Band! He didn't just make the small school all state ensembles; he made the 4/5A all state band. Sometimes if a student demonstrates a high level of musicianship in their audition and they did not get enough high quality auditions from 4/5A schools they "pull up" an audition from the small school band, which is what happened with Caleb.

Congratulations to Alanna Scheuermann and Gabe Looney for their all state choir performance.

Congratulations to Andre Wilkins for coaching the above mentioned students and for being chosen as a guest conductor for the tenor bass choir at the Top of Nation Honor Choir at Adams State this weekend. He will also be running a clinic for the Adams State University Jazz Band while he is there.

Congratulations to Emma Cozart for being selected by CHSCA as one of the top senior spirit athletes in the state of Colorado! As such, she has been invited to participate in the 2026 CHSCA All State Games. Congratulations to her coach Anita O’Daniel for being recognized as one of the top spirit coaches in the state. She has also been invited to participate in the CHSCA All State Games!

Congratulations to our middle school Girls Basketball Team and their coaching staff. The A-team went undefeated and won the Tri-County League Championship!

AD’s Remarks:

It is RIVALRY WEEK!!! Our basketball teams travel to BV this Friday and they are pivotal games! Our girls’ team is looking to finish out as the League Champions, but so are the BV girls! The boys’ team is looking to keep their playoff hopes alive. Our athletes need you to show up in masses to support them in their quest. As always, Salida fans will show the utmost respect for officials, fans, and the other team! Do not get caught up in any shenanigans from the other side. No signs! Cheer loud and proud for our kids. Keep it classy Spartans!

Finally, next week begins our spring sports season. I HIGHLY encourage our students to be multi-sport athletes. If you want to become great in the sport of your choice, you need to become a great athlete by playing multiple sports! Ensure you are registered and have an updated physical on file before practices begin on Monday.
