The Salida School District is pleased to announce that several of our students have been selected for very significant scholarships. Their success also reflects on the Salida Schools’ leadership, staff, and community for the support, guidance, mentorship, and commitment to preparing students for college and career.

The Boettcher Foundation Scholarships

Amelie Keyser and Finn Blackburn have been selected as recipients of the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship. This achievement represents their academic excellence, character, leadership, and commitment to making a meaningful difference in their communities.

The Boettcher Scholarship is highly prestigious because it is a competitive award given to the 50 top Colorado students each year, placing recipients among the state’s most accomplished students. It is awarded to seniors who show evidence of superior scholastic ability and intellectual curiosity, evidence of leadership and involvement, service to their community and school, and outstanding character. It is a merit-based scholarship, the Foundation defines as "merit of circumstance," meaning the selection criteria mentioned above and more. Winners receive an annual fixed amount of $20,000 for four years, with additional support depending on which Colorado school they decide to attend. Daniels Scholarship Program

Creede Phillips is the winner of a prestigious Daniels Scholarship. Through his academics, involvement in student leadership, and service work, he has set an example for his peers and represented Salida High School well.

Candidates for the Daniels Scholarship Program should reflect the characteristics of Bill Daniels, the man behind the program, and are considered to be America’s next generation of leaders, persevering through life’s challenges and committed to making a difference in the world around them. They are independent and entrepreneurial thinkers who are proud of their country and their communities and work hard to improve them. Winners of the scholarship receive an award to cover the full cost of attendance at partner schools within Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming up to $25,000 a year for qualified expenses, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, miscellaneous educational expenses.

National Merit Scholar

Hawken Sather was recognized as a National Merit Scholar. The program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships that began in 1955. The program is conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. United States high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which serves as an initial screen of over 1.3 million entrants each year, and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.
