Quote of the Week:
"The vision of a champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is looking.” -Mia Hamm
Thank you:
I want to use my final AD newsletter to thank so many people who made my job as the interim AD, over the last 7 months, so rewarding. First, I want to thank the administration and the school board for giving me a chance to serve in this role. It has challenged me, educated me, and has made me a better person and coach. Second, I want to thank our amazing coaches for giving me their support and for the friendships I have developed with many of you. Third, as I mentioned last week, I could not have done this job without the amazing support of my staff and the ladies in the front office. Fourth, I want to thank the many parents that I was able to have conversations with and who’s support for our coaches and programs have made my job much easier. I am thankful that we have supportive parents in this community. Next, I want to thank all our student-athletes. I thought I was ready to retire. However, your dedication, work-ethic, and determination to achieve greatness has invigorated me and shown me that I am not done wanting to be around that. Keep doing the great things that you are doing!. Finally, I want to thank Carrie, Karna, and Kyle for talking me into taking this position and being there to support me every step of the way.
I look forward to continuing to support the Spartans in the future. Thank you and GO SPRATANS!

AD’s Remarks:
As we have been doing all year, Spartan athletes showed up and showed out this past week. Our MS track and baseball programs have shown that the future is bright for Spartan athletics. Our HS track team went out and displayed their greatness at the State Championships this past weekend. We had so many athletes standing on the podium to receive medals, to include state champions in the girls 4x100 and girls High Jump!
With all the success that our programs have had over the past few years, it can get lost in the weeds that this success is not commonplace. A majority of schools do not get to experience the success that Salida has experienced. Most people see our kids in photos like the one that is posted in this letter. They see the championship trophies, the championship medals, and the smiles on the athletes faces as they experience their successes. Most do not get to see what Mia Hamm describes in her quote. And that is all the hard work that these student athletes, and coaches, put in to get to a level to be a champion! Many don’t see the grind, tears, sweat, injuries, and the failures that are all a part of the journey towards that championship. You can’t have one without the others. Keep grinding Spartans! Keep doing the work when no one is watching, when no one is patting you on the back, when no one is putting a ribbon around your neck. Because the TRUE reward is in the journey you take to get to the top! Go Spartans!
