Quote of the Week:

“I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.” –Florence Nightingale

Thank you:

Each week the activities department will highlight a group of people who help make our activities department run. This week we would like to thank our Custodial and Maintenance Department. No one ever gets to see the amount of work they do to ensure our activities run smoothly. We could not have any activities without them. Make sure you let them know how much you appreciate them!

Shout outs:

Congratulations to our HS Wrestling staff and the 3 athletes that competed at the state championships this past week! Calhoun Hill went 2-2 at the state meet and just missed the podium. Jake Johnson went 4-2 to claim 5th place. Sam Johnson went 4-0, to finish the season undefeated, and win his 2nd state title! Sam broke the school record for most wins in a season and most wins in a career.

Congratulations to our Girls Basketball staff and team! They went undefeated during regular season league play. They became the first Salida girls basketball team to win the Tri Peaks League!

Congratulations to our E-sports coaching staff and to Jaiden Harris. Jaiden won both rounds of our e-sports tournament last Wednesday and continues to help the rest of the team improve!

Great work by our HS and MS baseball coaching staff, as well as our HS track and soccer staffs for running off season workouts over the past 2 months. We have already had some great performances at 2 indoor track meets this winter! Everyone trains in-season, but it is what we do in the off-season that makes the difference!

AD’s Remarks:

Our basketball teams travel to Florence on Friday and Saturday to play in the league tournament. These are very important games! The girls are playing to improve their seeding heading into the playoffs next week. The boys are still fighting to get into the playoffs. Both teams need our support! Show up, be Proud and be Loud! Game times will get posted to the schedule as soon as we get them.

Finally, this week begins our spring sports season. I HIGHLY encourage our students to be multi-sport athletes. If you want to become great in the sport of your choice, you need to become a great athlete by playing multiple sports! Ensure you are registered and have an updated physical on file before practices begin on Monday.
