Dear Salida Middle School students and parents;
I am very excited to welcome you all to the 2026-27 school year at Salida Middle School. My name is Michelle Saab and I am honored to return as your principal for my fifth school year.
I am energized about this new school year and committed to working with you and our incredible staff to make this a really great year.
I hope that everyone has had an enjoyable summer and that you are as excited as I am about the start of the school year. We have great things in store for every student here this year.
Our students start their day in homeroom/crew. Your child’s crew teacher should be a reliable and informative teacher that can serve as a go to staff member for both you and your child.
As we all prepare for the 2026/27 school year please take a few minutes to complete the online registration forms that can be found on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal https://salidaco.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/salida.jsp
The forms should be completed by the first day of school, 8/12/2026 (please note we are starting on a Wednesday this school year). If you need assistance with you portal login, please contact Jim Sampson at jsampson@salidaschools.org

Student Led Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held Tuesday September 22nd and Wednesday September 30th.
Most shedules are already posted to IC Parent Portal. Please take the time to look at them with your child so they are prepared for their homeroom the first day. We will not be printing schedules for all students and will work with students on navigating Infinite Campus for grades and schedules.
SMS Student Handbook is important to review with your child. It covers all logistics, rules and policies of our school including the Salida School District Cell Phone Policy and Dress Code.
Being on time is always important, especially during these first days of school. Students who arrive late will need to enter the building through the front main door.
As you know, the first few days of school are crucial for goal and expectation setting in classrooms as well as for orientation and relationship building between all students and staff. We are all excited to get to know and support your students and ask that you make every effort to have them to school on time every day.
I realize having a middle-school-aged child can be a challenge. Middle school can be harder on parents than it is on kids! Additionally, middle school is a time of great change, independence as well as physical and emotional growth. Please know that everyone here at SMS is here to support your child and family. Feel free to reach out to any of us if and when a time arises when you need assistance/support, have questions, or need clarification about anything.
Thanks for being a part of the Salida Middle School Family, and welcome.
Sincerely,
Michelle Saab
