students at top of Manitou Incline

I learned you may not be ready to do it but that does not mean you can"t do it.

When you look at the climb from the bottom, it looks like the top is right there, but really it's not.

2,768 is a lot of stairs and 2,000 feet elevation gain in 1 miles is exhausting

So,

Stay hydrated

Have plenty of snacks

Marshmallows and M&Ms are great fuel power.

Take breaks when you need them.

Just push through and keep your head up.

Push yourself.

Hike with someone who moves at your pace.

It's better when you do it with friends.

Don't think about how many steps you have left to go, think about how many you've done so far.

You get closer to the top, every step you take.

The Beauty of the earth and the wildlife around you will motivate you.

The view is worth it.

I learned that it was difficult but I could do it.

I learned that I need to pace myself.

And, the last step is just as easy as the first, it's the ones between that make you feel like you have accomplished something.
