students hiking in aspen grove at KSS

On Sept. 29-Oct. 1 Crest Students went to Keystone Science School. We went hiking and stargazing and shared some stories by the campfire. Both boys and girls dorms had some fun bonding moments with lots of laughing. For the past 2 years we have gone to Keystone in the winter and gone cross country skiing for a single night, but this year we went for 2 full nights.

We were learning about the water cycle and water in the Colorado River. The 7th and 8th graders did a town hall, their prompt was about a dam that was getting raised, and debated about how to best handle it. There were lots of different positions, some people were the Front Range Water Providers, or Colorado River District, Tourism and Recreation, Trout Unlimited, or the Farm Bureau.
