On August 27th, The Crest Academy went to Noah’s Ark Rope Course in Buena Vista. Throughout the day, students worked on character-building skills including resilience (a Crest character strength), teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. They practiced these skills on high-adrenaline features such as the Leap of Faith, a 50-foot climb to a small platform where students would jump and attempt to grab a bar suspended in the air before being slowly lowered back down. Another feature was the Drop Swing, where students were lifted high into the air before being released and sent swinging over the river. The students also explored four different rope courses. One required teams of two to communicate and work together to make it across, while another included “choose your own adventure” elements that allowed students to make their own decisions and step outside their comfort zones. It was a challenging and exciting day that gave students the opportunity to test themselves and work together in a different setting.
