Health Class Update
Each semester, students have the opportunity to ask an anonymous question during the human sexuality portion of our freshman health class. It’s not unusual for more than one student to write, “how do I talk to my (mom, dad, grandparent or other trusted adult) about sex”. If you’re interested in initiating a conversation with your teen about puberty, romantic relationships or sexual health please check out this parent resource.
Family and Youth Initiatives
Family and Youth Initiatives wants to share that a new 6-week session of the after school Project Towards No Drug Abuse program will begin in the CMC building on April 27. The program is designed for youth age 14-19 that may benefit from understanding the impact that addiction has on families, how substances affect developing minds, and the long-term physical consequences of using. FYI provides snacks and drinks at each session, along with other participation incentives. For more information, reach out to David Graham at Chaffee County Human Services.

Quote of the Week:
"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." — Pelé
Thank you:
Each week the activities department will highlight a group of people who help make our activities department run. This week we would like to thank our event workers! Every event we host requires a number of workers to make the event run. Ticket takers, scoreboard operators, book keepers, announcers, etc. Many of these workers are school district staff members who enjoy supporting our kids. Thanks for your support! We could not have an activities department without you!

AD’s Remarks:
The quote by Pele is so fitting after watching our girls bring home the state title. It most definitely was no accident. It had everything to do with hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, and sacrifice. Watching this team at practices and at competitions, it was very apparent the love they have for the game, the process of becoming great, for each other, and for their coaches. They are a great example of what setting goals, working hard to reach your goals, and believing in your ability to achieve your goals can do for you!
We have some celebration plans for the girls basketball team that we are working on. We will post those once we get them finalized.

Hello Spartan Students, Families and Guardians,
A big congratulations to Spartan Senior Hawken Sather! Being recognized as a National Merit Scholar represents one of the highest academic distinctions a high school student can earn in the United States and highlights outstanding intellectual ability, dedication to academics, and strong college readiness. We are proud of Hawken and the example he sets for our Spartan community.
